Let’s Get Cooking!
Now that we have everything ready, here’s how to bring your Lubrication to life…
1. Start with the Dough (30 minutes)
Combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Add the lukewarm water, lukewarm milk, and sunflower oil, stirring until a dough forms. This is my favorite part, the smell of the yeast mixing with the warm liquids is amazing!
2. Knead that Dough (10 minutes)
On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. If you can stretch it and see through it great! It’s ready.
3. Let it Rise (45 minutes)
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise at room temperature for about 45 minutes or until it has doubled in size. I usually take a moment to find the biggest bowl, my dough tends to rise like a champ!
4. Divide and Shape (15 minutes)
Once the dough has risen, punch it down. Divide it into 14 equal pieces, rolling them into balls. Let them rise for another 15 minutes; you can have a little dance party while you wait!
5. Cook the Beef (10 minutes)
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Brown it until it’s fully cooked while breaking it apart with a spatula. This will take about 5 minutes. The smell oh wow, the smell alone makes your home feel like a cozy restaurant!
6. Add the Veggies and Flavor (10 minutes)
Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, onions, peppers, garlic, and all the spices. Stir everything together, allowing it to cook for another 5-10 minutes until fragrant and the onions are translucent.
7. Combine the Dough and Filling (15 minutes)
Flatten the dough balls with your hands, rolling them out as thin as possible. In the same skillet, cook each piece until delightful golden brown spots appear, roughly 2-3 minutes each side.
8. Serve it Up!
Layer the cooked meat filling into the baked flatbread. Drizzle some yogurt on top and sprinkle with chili flakes and parsley. Cut into pieces and watch your family dig in!
